Winged-eyeliner has been around since the times of Audrey Hepburn, and it seems like it will stay that way. Achieving the perfect wing can be difficult, if not maddening. Everyone who has “winged it” has been there, but with a couple tips and tricks, that classic winged liner look won’t be so hard.
Two words: gel liner. If you’re not too confident with liquid eye liner, gel liner is the perfect substitute. Personally, one of my favorite gel liners is Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel Liner. Gel liner is easier to work with than liquid because of its creamy texture and it doesn’t require surgeon-steady hands to create even and straight lines. Just grab a thin angled brush, such as the Make Up Forever 262 Angled Eyeliner Brush, dip it in the gel and give it a go!
If getting a perfect and pointed wing is still difficult, a cheap and easy way to help create the perfect wing is by using tape. All you have to do is place the tape at the angle you’d want your liner to take. So even though your eyeliner may be all over the place when you apply it, once you take the tape off your wing should have that straight, pointed end you’ve always craved for.
